Philadelphia Foundation Celebrates Successful Inaugural Philly Gives Initiative, Announcing $650,000 in Grants for Local Nonprofits

Philadelphia Foundation, a leading driver of philanthropic impact in the Greater Philadelphia region for over a century, is proud to announce the successful completion of its community gift fund, Philly Gives, which raised $200,000 during its inaugural campaign from November 25, 2024, to January 31, 2025. Combined with the $450,000 in seed funding, this year’s effort has resulted in a total of $650,000 in direct support for nine nonprofit organizations driving meaningful change across Greater Philadelphia.

Launched in November 2024, and running through January 2025, Philly Gives was designed as a community-driven fund to strengthen essential nonprofit organizations serving Philadelphia and its suburbs.  Funded through a grant from the William Penn Foundation, the initiative was a collaboration between Philadelphia Foundation and The Lenfest Institute for Journalism aimed at addressing the region’s most pressing needs, including affordable housing, food security, healthcare access, youth development, and job training.

Pedro Ramos, President and CEO of Philadelphia Foundation, expressed his gratitude: “The success of Philly Gives demonstrates the incredible spirit of generosity in our region. These funds provide direct support to vulnerable populations, and we are deeply grateful that our community acknowledges and values organizations providing valuable and much-needed services  to our neighbors.”

The nine beneficiary organizations, selected by a diverse committee of recognized community and civic leaders, include ACLAMO, Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, GALAEI, Hopeworks, VietLead, Why Not Prosper, YEAH Philly (Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout), and YMWIC (Young Men & Women in Charge Foundation).
